CSE Projects – EM Johnson Water Treatment Plant

In late November Carolina Solar Energy partnered with the City of Raleigh to build a 255 kilowatt (kWdc) photovoltaic (PV) system at the EM Johnson Water Treatment Plant off Falls of the Nuese Rd. in Raleigh, NC.

The project was constructed with the help of subcontractors King Brothers Electric Company and TROSA on the roof of a 117,000 sq. ft. enclosed concrete structure that holds treated water for the City of Raleigh.

The installation consisted of 3400 thin-film First Solar FS-75 modules with Schletter racks. First Solar Panels and the Schletter racks are manufactured in the United States and the panels represent the cutting edge of thin-film technology and also have no cost, pre-funded, end-of-life take back and recycling program.

60% of the system went online December 31 and the remainder will be fully online in mid-January.

CSE will sell the energy produced to Progress Energy Carolinas for distribution to its customers.
