CSE Projects – The North Carolina Zoo

In November 2007, Carolina Solar Energy, LLC (CSE) built and began operating a 104 KWdc PV solar generator at the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro NC. The solar installation is the roof of the Zoo’s new Solar Pointe Picnic Pavilions next to the North American entrance.

This custom design-build project consists of 612 Suntech high-efficiency 170 Watt PV panels mounted on top of the three 40′ by 80′ metal roofs for a total of 9,600 square feet. The solar electricity is sold to Randolph Electric Membership Cooperative and the renewable energy certificates (RECs) is sold to NC GreenPower under a 5-year contract.
